Brass 385/280 square tube combines two visually similar copper zinc alloys selected interchangeably based on size availability while maintaining a consistent appearance. Both alloys offer excellent corrosion resistance, good strength, and a bright, polished finish, making them ideal for architectural, ornamental, and structural applications.
Brass 385 (architectural brass) is known for its excellent machinability and superior surface finish, making it a preferred choice for decorative and fabrication projects. Brass 280 (Muntz brass) provides higher strength and hardness due to its duplex structure, making it more suitable for structural and marine applications requiring durability.
Performs well in hot working processes such as forming and fabrication, though 385 offers better machinability while 280 provides improved mechanical strength. Supplied in square tube form, this material is well suited for applications requiring both structural integrity and visual appeal.
