W1 tool steel drill rod is a water hardening, high carbon alloy known for its strong cutting performance, versatility, and ease of machining prior to heat treatment. It is capable of achieving very high hardness, though some dimensional distortion should be expected during quenching. Precision ground and polished to a 16 Ra surface finish and fully free of decarburization, W1 drill rod is widely used for blacksmithing, short term wear tools, and general tooling applications where toughness and affordability are priorities.
Applications: Shafts, pins, blacksmithing tools, short term wear tooling, hand tools.
Finish / Condition: Ground & Polished (16 Ra, Decarb Free)
