Overview

A653/A924 Galvanneal steel is a paintable alternative to galvanized steel. It is manufactured similarly to galvanized steel, however, galvanneal steel goes through an additional annealing process after galvanization. This extra step converts the zinc coating to a zinc-iron alloy and allows the surface to readily accept paint. Due to this quality, galvanneal steel is commonly used for automobiles, highway signs, vending machines, computer chassis, and garage doors.

This material has a non-spangled surface finish similar to that of uncoated cold rolled steel.
